More on ship-assembly yards

At ship-assembly yards, module assembly from prefabricated components is performed as opposed to shipbuilding yards and works where ship parts, units and components are produced. This features such enterprises. On one hand, component delivery to the yard should be convenient and inexpensive. On the other hand, today, since quite considerable amount of components in any industry is delivered from abroad instead of being produced in the country, ship-assembly yards are the most inexpensive, quick and convenient option. Most frequently, ship-assembly yards comprise associations consisting of ship-, machine-building and other enterprises.

The strong point of the ship-assembly industry consists in the possibility of relatively quick arrangement of manufacture of a large ship series. Such yards are staked on in China, South Korea, Poland, Czech Republic and other countries. There were plans of launching manufacture of such type in Russia, specifically, in Saint-Petersburg.
