Industrial services
In this section you can find detailed information on Forum participants rendering different services in the field of vessel operation, news, news stories, and a brief overview of industrial services in Russia. Go to the necessary subsection, please.
Possession of ships, their operation and maintenance require participation of many specialists. The list of services rendered by them is comprehensive and covers all stages of the service life of a ship. At the stage of construction, they are design, crediting, construction itself and so on. Later, they are ship registration, its rent or leasing, freight, contracting, specialist recruitment, dispute settlement, underwriting and so on.
Some services are very specific and rendered only in this industry. Others, as legal or underwriting services, are general. But the sea leave its mark and they are related with high risks. Sometimes, state intervention is essential. Personnel issue is topic just as everywhere. In the whole, the service market is developing and changing together with the huge and diversified marine industry.
In Russia, service market is unevenly developed: in some issues we yield to the leading marine powers, in other we adapt to competitive environment. For example, creation of our own ship registry is in a bad way. And as a consequence, Russian ship owners register their ships in the countries of “convenient flag”.
Freight
Freight means leasing vessels to transport passengers and cargoes and it is a common practice in the world commerce. Thus, vessels under the flags of other countries service the majority of Russian foreign trade contracts (sometimes up to 90%). In this section the information is provided on companies rendering agency services in the field of vessels maintenance as well as overseas and inland transportation services. In this section you can find information on companies preparing and selling sea and river navigation charts, whether paper print or electronic. In accordance with the target programme for the development of Russian inland waterways now up-to-date electronic navigation charts are being prepared on the basis of hydrographic survey data. In this section the information is provided on freight forwarders participating in the Forum. Over 90% of the Russian fleet are cargo ships and the remainder are passenger ships. In accordance with the Marine doctrine of the Russian Federation signed by the President on 27 July, 2001, overseas transportation is of high importance for the inland traffic and external economic activities.
