Belgian Jan De Nul Group Tested Hydraulic Excavator to Use in Shallow and Medium-Deep Waters

On the basis of a hydraulic excavator, Belgian Jan De Nul Group made dredging machine in shallow and medium-deep waters. The first specimen has recently been tested in one of the Belgian ports. According to Raise.ru, portal of special-purpose machinery, the “underwater digger” can operate on the depth up to 30 meters and weighs 130 tons.

The operational precision (up to 10 cm.) is provided by a remote control system combined with a submarine sonar and GPS-system.

The volume of the excavator bucket is 6 cubic meters, boom length – 9 meters, grip length – 5.8 meters. The digging height reaches 10.4 m and bucket edge strength is 550 kN. Its dimensions for transport are 16.0 × 5.5 × 5.7 m. As a replacing equipment, a hydro hammer and hydraulic shearing machine are used.
