OAO Novaya ERA Will Develop Electric Installations for Offshore Projects

OAO Novaya ERA won an open tender for carrying out research and development works in the area of development of power distributing equipment for offshore drilling platforms. The tender was organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

OAO Novaya ERA is one of few Russian enterprises producing offshore switchboard equipment. The winning of this tender for 2.5 year research and development works again confirms high qualification of staff, high level, competitive ability and reliability of equipment produced by the enterprise.

The works to be done comprise development of design and production documentation of a series of standard power distributing equipment with module boxes as well as production and testing of prototype models of equipment under development.

One of the main development tasks is extensive application of home-made components and gradual complete rejection from imported ones. Temporary use of foreign-made components is admitted only if necessary home made components lack and only for the period of their design and production exclusively by agreement with the Customer.

In the course of research and development works, specialists of OAO Novaya ERA intend to develop four new technologies:

  • technology of formation and construction of the module box structure for a standard power distributing device;
  • technology of formation and application of medium-voltage equipment with operating voltage ranging from 6 to 10 kV both with insulated or grounded neutral;
  • technology of functional-structural configuration of relay-protective equipment incorporated into a box, such equipment ensuring all kinds of electric protection to equipment, bus lines and cables;
  • technology of discrete and digital communication of relay-protective equipment with CMS and connected electrical loads’ equipment.
