Technicians of OAO Electrocable Works, Kolchugino developed proprietary codes and standards, TU 16.К01-56-2007 Ship Cables of Increased Fire Safety and have recently mastered a broad product line meeting the requirements of the specified TU.

Ship cables of increased fire safety replace cables КНР, КНРк, НРШМ, etc. meeting requirements of GOST 7866.1-76 and GOST 7866.2-76. which are generally used aboard.

New cables satisfy completely international standards, and new TU put an emphasis on safe operation of these products, that is flame retardence both of a single cable or a group of them (cables are being labeled with “нг” or “нг-HF”). Flame retardence of a group of cables enables to renunciate extra fire protection of cable ducts or soundly simplify it.

The new product’s other features are life time extension; absence of halogen-containing materials which enhances combustion product toxication protective level; and assurance of operational reliability of electronic equipment in case of fire due to the fact that smoke and gas emission products have low corrosive activity.

Besides, cable structure (especially 5 strand flexibility class) makes assembly very convenient since cable lines can be laid in cramped premises thus expanding a ship’s effective area.

In terms of import substitution purposes, new ship cables answer these purposes. Since ship cables of increased fire safety have structure, technical characteristics, testing methods and operating properties similar to those specified by international standards, they can be recommended for replacement of a number of products by German, Turkish and other manufacturers.
