TNK-BP introduces new field development technologies of dual completion. According to the press-services of its affiliate TNK-Uvat, the first well of such type is to be drilled at the Ust-Tegusskoe Field on the south of the Tyumen Region in end-March.
The General Director Andrey Rublev, the new technology is to ensure simultaneous operation of, and oil extraction from different beds via a single bore hole. According to ITAR-TASS, oil withdrawal and its characteristics evaluation is to be done separately.
“Stratal properties of the Ust-Tegusskoe Field make it appropriate to implement the project. The potential formation flow rate is about 100 tons per day, so one well is to produce up to 200 tons of oil,” said Andrey Rublev.
According to TNK-Uvat specialists, drilling costs will be cut significantly in this project. It is the first of such class not only for TNK-BP but for the country. Similar wells are operated by Schlumberger in Ecuador and by Baker Hughes in Asia and Africa. Besides, the dual completion well construction equipment to be used at the Ust-Tegusskoe Field will be manufactured at Schlumberger and Baker Hughes plants. The dual completion system is to be put into operation in June, 2010.
