Ulstein Group Hybrid Propulsive System

On November 12, Olympic Hera vessel was launched; it is one of two vessels built by Ulstein Group for Olympic Shipping Ship-Owner Company and equipped with innovative hybrid propulsive system ensuring unprecedented performance.
The system combines high efficiency as well as best rates at full load (those are the characteristics of diesel engines) and low fuel consumption at low loads (that is the characteristic of diesel-electric installations). In the first place, the new hybrid is designed for anchor handling vessels and offshore support vessels.
The designers noted that the hybrid propulsive system created by consolidation of diesel and diesel-electric plants would cost less and occupy less space than a large diesel-electrical plant with similar characteristics.
