Heads of two largest shipbuilding enterprises of Russia and Ukraine, General Director of OAO PO Sevmash Nikolay Kalistratov and Head of Chernomorsky Shipbuilding Plant (CSP) Dmitry Mordovenko, signed a cooperation agreement.
These plants have much in common. One point of contact is repair and refit of the aircraft carrier Vikramadit’ya. In 1982, the ship (then called aircraft-carrying cruiser Baku and later Admiral Gorshkov) was built at CSP. Now, it is being refitted and repaired at Sevmash.
Besides, parties observe perspective of relationship evolution in another direction.
According to Aleksey Petrin, head of the shipbuilding subholding Chernomorsky Shipbuilding Plant being part of which, Ukrainian shipbuilders are ready to make maximum efforts to arrange mutually beneficial cooperation in the area of surface shipbuilding, oil-and-gas and other projects. “I am sure our cooperation is to become a starting point in restoration of close and friendly relations between shipbuilders of Russia and Ukraine as well as of regeneration of the former capacities of our plants,” added he.
