During inter-navigation period 2009-2010, a broadened programme for cargo fleet repairing is performed at the Volga Shipping Company. According to the press-service of the company, entry into effect of new hull structure and mechanism requirements of the Russian Registry of Inland Waterway Shipping increased total volume of company ship-repair as compared to the last year.
In accordance to the Russian Registry of Inland Waterway Shipping requirements, interim overhaul of 22 of 71 Volgo-Don type ships is to be performed. These are basic cargo ships to be operated during navigation-2010.
Of these 21 motor-ships, 16 are owned by the Volga Shipping Company and 6 are operated on terms of bare-hull charter from the North-Western Shipping Company (NWSC).
Basic cargo ship overhaul bases are Borremflot Ship-Repair Facility (the Nizhny Novgorod Region) with 9 motor-ships on slipway and the Voskresensk Repair-Operational Base (the Leningrad Region) with 5 motor-ships being repaired.
Interim repair of other Volgo-Don type ships is performed at the Volga Repair-Operational Base (the Volgograd Region), Pamyat Parizhskoy Kommuny Plant (the Nizhny Novgorod Region), in Navashino at the Oka Shipyard (the Nizhny Novgorod Region), at the ship-repair plant in Aksay (the Rostov Region).
Running repair of other dry cargo carriers’ mechanisms is performed by crew efforts.
