Corn-Growers from the Novosibirsk Region Intend to Construct Own Ports

January 28, 2010

New corn ports in Vladivostok and Nakhodka will allow of access to exceeding markets of China and South-East Asia for regional agricultural producers.

Plans for redirecting the basic grain delivery vector from the Novosibirsk Region have been discussed in the region for years. Viktor Gergert, the head of the Department of Agro-Industrial Complex of the Novosibirsk Region, confirmed that at least two Novosibirsk companies are completely ready to start constructing specialized ports at Far East. “Distance between Novosibirsk and Vladivostok is approximately the same as between Novosibirsk and Novorossiysk – the port through which we deliver corn to the export market. On the east, we have no such competitors as agricultural regions of the Don, along with that the Far East ports represent the direct access to the markets of South-East Asia – the area inhabited by half of the world’s population” – stated Viktor Gergert. He also noticed that companies are ready to start construction of corn ports in Vladivostok and Nakhodka. “Today they need government assistance and initiative” – says Viktor Gergert.
