Diesel Submarine for the Black Sea Fleet

On August 20, the diesel-electric submarine Novorossiysk for needs of the Black Sea Fleet was laid down at Admiralteyskie Verfi, Saint-Petersburg.
Among the participants of the solemn ceremony were Vladimir Korolev, Commander-in-Chief of the Black Sea Fleet, Vladimir Aleksandrov, CEO OAO Admiralteyskie Verfi, and Andrey Dyachkov, CEO Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering Rubin.
The project 636 submarine is of the third generation of diesel-electric submarines based on submarines of project 877 and 877 EKM (ЭКМ).
For construction an advanced modular method based on state-of-the-art practices of hull welding and assembling, system and equipment installation will be used.
