This was reported today in Moscow at the panel discussion on the draft Federal Law On Radioactive Waste Handling, said Evgeny Evstratov, Deputy Director General of Rosatom State Corporation. RBC informs that according to his words the operations are financed at the expense of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

During 2010, Lepse is to be transported to Nerpa Plant and in 2013 to be retreived. According to experts, the ship dismantlement works are to be completed in 2015-2016.

Lepse is a delivering ship of the Russian nuclear-powered icebreaker fleet. It performed SNF transshipment operations. In 1988, the vessel was taken out of service and in 1990, qualified as a bunkering vessel. SNF from icebreakers’ reactors is still in the storage facility of Lepse.
