For the first time in recent years a passenger vessel is being built in Moscow

December 06, 2010

Moscow Ship Repair and Shipbuilding Plant (JSC MSSZ) has recently celebrated its 74th birthday. As a birthday gift the Plant has received an opportunity to lay down a keel for a new pleasure boat, which should be ready for the summer navigation season.
Building a passenger steamer is a rare event in Moscow now. In recent years Moscow has only built service crafts.
Scaffolds have already been covered with steel sheets of future desk. The boat side has a sign saying: “Pilgrim” boat, Plant № 501, Project № 23020”.
“Pilgrim” is going to have a single deck under a portable a’ la cabriolet glass roof.
The boat can carry up to 150 passengers. Above the water part of the boat is only 3 meters high, which allows it to go easily under Moscow lowest bridges. The boat is l30 meters long – can turn round in narrow spaces. The boat’s keel is tiny with the water draft of only 70 centimetres (for example standard size yachts that are being build nearby have a draft of 2.5-3 metres) – is suitable for shallow areas.
