November 25, 2010

Moscow Shipyard proceeded to construction of a cruising boat for Passazhirsky Port (the trademark Stolichnaya Sudokhodnaya Kompania , SSK) on November 23. According to the SSK’s CEO Dmitry Balykov, the company has placed an order for two brand new cruising boats, but they intend to order at least 10 boats of the series in future.
D. Balykov is reported by the Transport Today Information Agency not to specify the source of financing the purchase of the boats as well as the cost of each boat.
Dmitry Balykov said, that the boat code name was Piligrim. The vessel of 30 meters in length has the seat capacity of 120 passengers. “The first boat is to have been delivered to us by April 15 next year, just to the beginning of the shipping season in Moscow”, Balykov said. He also said that the boats would initially cruise along the central line from the Kievsky Station to the Novospassky Bridge.
Balykov added that the boat was a single-decker with a panoramic glass sliding roof and with an audio system, mounted in the seats, what would allow running tours.
In his turn the Moscow Shipyard CEO Roman Mazhorov said that the company had been favored with an order for a brand new passenger carrier for the first time in the last 20 years.
Moscow Shipyard began operations on November 23, 1936. It made a specialty out of building river cruising boats. It was here where the well-known motor ships Moskva and Moskvich used to be constructed. The shipyard has been a yacht builder since 2001. It became a member of consortium Timmerman Yachts in 2005. Since then the shipyard has been building luxury yachts.
