OAO Oka Shipyard Implemented a Construction Contract for 3 Tankers

July 29, 2010

In June, 2010, Oka Shipyard, town of Navashino of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, delivered three Primemax-type tankers (project 00216) to Petronas Company, Malaysia.

Initially 5.4 thousand ton vessels were being constructed for Pietro Barbaro Group, Italy, under the contract signed in the end of 2006. The vessels were to be delivered in 2008-2009; however the Oka Shipyard management was not satisfied with price, so in 2008 the contract was terminated. The shipyard did not stop building and found a new customer — AET — a large oil transporter owned by MISC Group, affiliate of Petronas.
