OSK: In Next 2-3 Years Russia Will Enter Top 10 of Shipbuilding Powers

In next 2-3 years Russia will enter Top 10 of the largest shipbuilding powers by DWT of ships under construction. According to IAA PortNews correspondent, this was reported to journalists by Deputy General Director of United Shipbuilding Corporation (OSK) Dmitry Mironenkov within the framework of Marine Industry of Russia International Forum held in Moscow.

“It depends on criteria selected, said Dmitry Mironenkov answering the journalists’ question on Russia’s prospects as a shipbuilding power. By cost, we have already entered Top-10. As for gross tonnage, its figures are definitely pitiful. I hope that by all criteria we will enter Top-10 Iin next 2-3 years after new shipyards will have been put into operation and the construction of the large-tonnage fleet will have begun. This will create an opportunity to become one of the leading shipbuilding power by gross tonnage.”
