In Helsinki in the shipyard ”Arktek”, laid the keels for icebreakers-suppliers.

The Russian and Finnish shipbuilders laid the keel in Helsinki for two icebreakers-suppliers, building by order of the Ministry of Transport for use in the Sakhalin oil deposits. Order by the Contractor is a shipyard ”Arktek” / Archtech Helsinki Shipyard Oy / – a joint venture between Russia’s United Shipbuilding Corporation / USC / and STX Finland.

Organizations of inland waterway transport sent to recipients by 20.7% more goods compared with 2010 during navigation period 2011. Total shipments reached 126.6 thousand tons, including domestic traffic – 108.6 thousand tons (+ 23.6%); in foreign traffic – 18.0 million tons (+5.8%).

Volume of cargo handling in seaports of Russia for 2011

The volume of cargo handling in seaports of Russia for January – December 2011 amounted to 535.3 million tons, up 1.8% more than in January-December 2010. Of the total volume dry cargo handling amounted to 234.4 million tons, up 10.8% more than in January-December 2010. Liquid cargo handling decreased by 4.3% to 300.9 million tons.

Russia intends to increase the area by expanding the boundaries in the Arctic

Ministry of Economic Development proposes to amend the baselines for calculating areas of the shelf and exclusive economic zone, according to a government source. The special charm of these changes is that they do not require the approval of other countries, but the boundaries will move hundreds of miles.
