Russia interested in partnership with Finland in the area of construction of ice class vessels and equipment for Arctic development. According to the message of the press-service of the Government of Russia, this was reported during the meeting with the President of Finland Tarja Halonen and the Finnish business community by the Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
“All advantages of partnership should be used in the shipbuilding industry, too. I mean co-producing vessels and services. Before noon, my Danish colleague, Prime Minister Rasmussen, and me have opened a new transatlantic line linking the Port Saint Petersburg and Latin America. While the company is Danish, the new launched vessel was constructed in South Korea. I know that much depends on the shipyard potential and opportunity to produce rival products of such scale. Though we have issues to consider and activities to cooperate in. Prospective niches in this area are construction of ice class vessels and production of equipment for Arctic regions development. We can use such products for domestic needs either deliver them to markets of third countries,” said Putin.
