Putin: Shipbuilders to receive government guarantees

“Vnesheconombank will guarantee payment recovery to the companies that order ships from the United Shipbuilding Corporation shipyards”, said Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
“The total volume of guarantees amounts to 40 billion roubles”, – said the Prime Minister at the Vnesheconombank Supervisory Board meeting on Tuesday, Interfax reports.
Putin said “This will give an advantage to domestic shipyards making them more attractive. Customers will be assured that proper fulfillment of their contracts is supported by substantial financial guarantees”.
Putin said that the United Shipbuilding Corporation had already built up “a considerable stock of orders – over 100 vessels”.
At the same time the Prime Minister admitted that after the years of disturbance it would be a hard task for domestic shipbuilders to establish a strong position on the market. They would need targeted support from the government.
