The keel lay down of the second 4 MWmulti-function rescue and salvage ship Spasatel Kavdeykin took place at Nevsky Shipbuilding-Shiprepair Plant (Schlusselburg, the Leningrad Region). The contracting authority is the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation (Rosmorrechflot). As communicated by IAA PortNews reporter from the ceremony, the plant is constructing two similar vessels under state contracts. The lead vessel of the series Spasatel Karev was laid down on September 22, 2009. The readiness of the hull i 82%.
Main parameters of these vessels: overall length 73 m,. design waterline beam 15.5 m, maximum draught 5.1 m, maximum draught DWT 1171 tons, maximum power of propulsion motors from 2×2,000 KW, maximum speed 15 knots.
