Russian Shipbuilding Industry Entered the New Year with 62-Percent Growth

February 25, 2010

According to Channel 5, this was reported to Vladimir Putin by the President of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), Roman Trotsenko. According to him, the positive dynamics was influenced by the coincidence of commissioning terms of several large ships and drilling platforms. But this was not the only cause.

According to Roman Trotsenko, the industry, in general, is developing, and the corporate portfolio presently includes over a hundred of orders. One of the recent acquisition made by USC was the purchase of Kaliningrad shipyard “Yantar”. The corporation intends to make the shipyard its key enterprise in the above-water ship building. And this alone is to create about one thousand workplaces.

It’s worth mentioning that Roman Trotsenko, the owner of “Moscow Shipping Company”, became the head of the Shipbuilding Corporation in October. And, as Vladimir Putin noted today, this reactivated the industry considerably.
