Borders of Russia’s Arctic continental shelf Will Be Ascertained by this Summer End

In the end of July, an expedition to ascertain the borders of Russia’s Arctic continental shelf will begin in Arkhangelsk, said Vladimir Sokolov, head of Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute of RosGidroMet.
The oceanographic research ship Akademik Fedorov has already put to the coastal cruise from Saint-Petersburg for Arkhangelsk. Operation of the eco sounder will be checked on the way.
According to Vladimir Sokolov, Akademik Fedorov is to leave Arkhangelsk for the expedition on July 27-29. The journey is expected to take 90 days, of which 70-75 in the Arctic.
