On May 6 in Moscow, the working meeting of Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and head of the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency Alexander Davydenko took place. At the meeting, the government executive agreed that state support to the shipbuilding and shipping is to cover inland waterway crafts.
There, Alexander Davydenko reported on earlier opening of the navigation and on situation in the river shipbuilding industry. According to him, from March 27 to April 2 the navigation was opened at the Don, Kuban and Lower Volga. In April, from 24 to 29, the navigation was opened at the Moscow Canal, Volga-Baltic Route, Northern Dvina and Kama. “As of the eastern regions, the navigation on the river Irtysh, Ob and Amur was opened on April 30. And by May 15, we are going to open navigation in the rest of basins including the Pechora river and White Sea-Baltic Canal in the north and the rivers Lena, Enisey and Angara in the east,” mentioned he.
The situation in the river shipbuilding industry was described as “tough”. “But considering your instructions and fulfilling your orders, in collaboration with the United Shipbuilding Corporation and in accordance with agreements signed, last year we loaded shipyards of Saint-Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Yaroslavl and Far East for the total amount exceeding RUR 10 bln. We also upgrade navigational hydraulic structures to meet these parameters, – said the official. – This year we make orders for river ships for RUR 12 bln.”
