On August 12, 2010, a lead sea diving ship Stolny Grad Yaroslavl, project SDS 08, was launched at Yaroslavsky Shipbuilding Plant. The ship is to participate in celebrating the 1000th anniversary of the city of Yaroslavl, so that later after necessary trials to be delivered to the customer.
The SDS08 diving ship design was elaborated by Marine Engineering Bureau. The vessel features length 38.64 m; beam 7.92 m; hull height 3.2 m; draught 2.1 m; displacement 376 t; dead weight 51 t; speed 11 knots.
The vessel is to be operated for diving and subsurface technical operations down to 100 m with rough water up to 3. It will also participate in rescue, ship-salvaging and hydraulic engineering works.
The tender for the right to conclude a state contract for construction of a marine diving ship was announced in 2009. The owner was the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency. Altogether 3 vessels will be constructed by Yaroslavsky Shipbuilding Plant for Rosmorrechflot.
