A Contract for the Third Tanker for Turkmenistan Signed

May 27, 2010

Krasnoe Sormovo Shipyard and Administration of Turkmenian Sea and River Lines (Turkmendenizderyaellary) signed a contract for construction of a river-sea-going oil tanker of DWT over 7 thousand tons. The ship tender was won in April.

Tankers of this class feature use of fully steerable propellers as an integrated propulsion and control tool, absence of longitudinal bulkhead in the center plane, use of deep-well pumps and a total absence of framing in cargo tanks.

Technical characteristics are: length 141.4 m, beam – 16.84 m, hull height – 6.82 m, sea deadweight – about 7,100 tons with 4.6 m draught, river deadweight – 4,700 tons with 3.6 m draught, capacity of 12 cargo and 2 slop tanks – 8,256 cub. m, main engine output – 2×1,200 kW, and cruising speed – 10.5 knots. As main engines, two medium speed engines of 1,200 kW are used which run on IFO380.

The tanker is assigned with an additional notation mark – EcoProject. This mark is an evidence that already at the design stage of the ship special environmental restrictions were taken into account as well as additional requirements regarding pollution prevention in case of emergency. Such environmentally safe ships enjoy confidence of ship-owners, maritime administration, and port authorities. The tanker class is KM*Icel [1] R2 AUT1- ICS OMBO LI VCS Oil Tanker (ESP) (according to the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping). The projector of the vessel is Volgo-Caspian Design Bureau.

Two tankers have already been built for Turkmenistan at Krasnoe Sormovo. The first – Sumbar – was delivered in August, 2009, and the second – Hazar – in October, 2009.
