Trade Unions Start Negotiating

On June 28, 2010, in Saint-Petersburg a meeting of the committee of the Interregional Shipbuilding and Shiprepair Workers Union took place. Union leaders from Severodvinsk, Saint-Petersburg, Astrakhan and Kaliningrad were discussing execution of an agreement with United Shipbuilding Corporation.
Besides, the union decided on starting negotiations with the National Industrial Employers Association “Russian Engineering Union”. Elaboration of the new union regulations is still in progress.
Aleksey Kukushkin, chairman of the primary trade union organization of the Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center, says: “Activities of the executive organ of the union are to result in specific resolutions aimed at organization strengthening and gaining authority, and practical steps towards protection of interests of trade unionists. We commence negotiations with OSK and Russian Engineering Union. At the same time new organizations join our trade union which is the sign of confidence. So, our task is to justify their hopes”.
