The oil carrier Kirill Lavrov is put into service

A ceremony devoted to the putting of the oil carrier Kirill Lavrov into service took place at Admiralteyskie Verfi. The oil carrier is built for Sovcomflot under engineering supervision by Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and Lloyd’s Register.

The oil carrier has 70,000 DWT and it is designed for the transportation of crude oil, petroleum and gas condensate with a specific gravity between 0.70 and 1.025 t/m3 amid non-escorted year-round arctic transit.

The project, developed by Aker Arсtic Technology Inc., is considered and approved by Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and Lloyd’s Register.

Its general performances are as follows:
overall length – 257.74 м
width – 34.00 м
depth – 20.80 м
molded draft – 14.0 м
GRT – 49,866 t
designed speed – 16 knots.
The carrier has an Azipod jet-propulsor with two rudder-propellers with a capacity of 8.5 mega-watt each.
Class notation by Russian Maritime Register of Shipping – КМ (*) Arc6 [2] AUT1 EPP Oil tanker (ESP).
The oil carrier Kirill Lavrov went for its maiden trip on September 15, 2010.
